In harmony with my professional work as an architect and designer, I have developed a life-long painting practice in which I find deep meaning, experimentation, and joy. My work originates with the exploration of constructing space within the confines of canvas and paper. Through layers of gestural line, texture, organic form, and contrast, the composition unfolds moment by moment and layer by layer as interactions are made, broken and reworked. The final outcome is not as originally imagined but becomes more alive and nuanced than what could be planned. My process embraces the tension between intuition and intention, subconscious and presence, release and control. Beauty is in the imbalance. Character is in the layers. Joy is in the unexpected.
